Welcome to the History page which will give you an overview of the history of HM Coastguard Ventnor. As there is a lot of different pictures to show, we thought it would be better to create a gallery with a brief description, rather than writing a lot of text. These photographs have been supplied team members, both past and present.

Above is an old team photo taken outside of our old station in Kent Road, Ventnor. Some of the team are still present but some have left. Please click on to the 'Team' page to see who is currently in Ventnor Coastguard.

This is the Augusta in February 1900.

This is a photograph of an Auxiliary Coastguard in their uniform during the war. We are no longer called Auxiliary Coastguard's but Coastguard Rescue Officer's (CRO's).

This is the old Blackgang team in 1968.

This is a picture of 3 team members with a Dolphin on Ventnor Beach. On the left is John Elvers who has left the Coastguard. Centre is Mick Gallop who is a member of the team and on the right is Dave Butler who is the team's Station Officer.

This is the 'Sea Lassie' on the rocks in 1975.

This photograph was taken during the removal of Ventnor Pier when one of the barge's broke from it's mooring. The team were called to this incident.
